CORAL PROJECT

Get a deeper understanding of the marine life of the Maldives

CORAL PROJECT

Coral replanting aims to regenerate the reef following both natural and man-made damage. The vision is to assist in the recovery of the reef that has been damaged by different stressors such as wave action, sand turbulence, and global warming. There are various methods used for regrowing fragmented corals, and our team on the island is assisting the resident marine biologist in replanting the corals.

Coral reef-building is a long and gradual process that needs constant attention in the initial phase. Each restoration site will have a different set of circumstances to consider, and regular monitoring is necessary to ensure the replanted corals will survive.
